2) If you are experiencing pointer direction issues when screen is rotated in Vista. Please use the following Touchpad driver 10.1.7 release.

A BIOS upgrade for S37A/B is now available which will default the S37 with USA keyboard into 'Normal' fan mode on reboot and is also a must if you plan on installing windows XP. Run this program by right clicking and using the 'run as administrator' option.

XP (USA BIOS) Drivers are now available for download but will require a

password from support@vyeusa.com to unpack. Please provide the S37 supplied serial number from the product purchased in the USA in the request. Please note these files are for S37 and NOT S41. Using them for the S41 is at your own risk. Also the S41 Vista recovery partition may be lost in loading XP.

GPS Settings and the S41

The default setting for the GPS receiver is NEMA ver 3 presenting on COM1 at 9600. If your mapping software is looking for ver 2 then please download the utility (item 7 on this page) which will allow you to change the baud rate. The download also provides a test display program to show the receivers operation. When connected the green icon turns steady, when flashing it is searching.

Where is the Stylus?

The Stylus is located on the top right hand side of the screen bezel. It is removed by sliding up and out. Each unit is supplied with just one in this position.

Screen rotation

If you have lost the rotation button function it is probably due to the Chipset being updated beyond 7.12.10.1272.

To restore the functionality reinstall the default drivers supplied with the S37. They are in the c:driversdisplay Intel directory. When you run the setup.exe file acknowledge the installation of an older version and after a reboot the issue should be resolved.

Wireless error code 10

Code 10 error for the wireless adaptor is caused by the wireless USB not being turned on. Make sure the front switch is set to on as well as Fn+F4 is set to enable the adapter. The default setting for the wireless (or Bluetooth) can be set in the Bios.

Can the S37 /S41 take more than 1GB of RAM?

These Vye models can successfully operate with 2GB. Some manufacturers believe that a unit with more than 1GB of ram will take it out of the UMPC category and place the device in the laptop category. The S37 and S41 takes DDR-2 pc5300. The S37 or S41 can be ordered with 2GB via the accessories page.

Vista Units switching to Windows basic from Areo

In order to save power, units running Vista will automatically switch Areo off by the Hotkey application when running on battery power only. To enable Areo mode again plug the external power pack back in.

Wireless troubleshooting

The unit requires 3 things to be enabled before the wireless will be accessed.

1) In the BIOS the advanced settings should not have the wireless disabled but set to pre-state (this is default)

2) The front slide switch must be on

3) Fn +F4 toggles the wireless device on and off

To use Fn+ F4 you press the fn the f4.. a central window displays with 2 icons, pressing f4 again will switch between the enabled and disabled icons. Leave the setting on enabled and the green led will light up on the front panel to show the wireless is on. At that point Vista (or XP) will load up the drivers.
